A digital sculpture made in Rhino 3D, then rendered in MentalRay, and 3D-printed into a 12-inch sculpture.

The objective of the assignment was to make a semi-abstract sculpture based on the human body. I based this sculpture on a stylized human spine, ribcage, and hipbone, and I tried to anthropomorphize it  by attempting to give it an expressive posture.

I rendered the sculpture onto a photograph, and I made the lightning and the texturing look as seamless as I could. The 3D print’s base is an oiled piece of tiger wood; wood pegs and plaster of Paris were used to prevent the scultpure from toppling over.
